Korean Natural Farming at Mulroy Meadow Farm
At Mulroy Meadow Farm, Korean Natural Farming (KNF) plays an important role in how we care for our soil, plants, and animals. We practice KNF as part of our wider regenerative approach, drawing on training and support from Natural Farming Ireland, and use it as a practical, biological tool to build healthy, living soils and reduce reliance on synthetic inputs. Our aim is always to work with natural systems rather than trying to control them.
How we practice KNF

KNF is a biological farming system that encourages beneficial microbes and natural nutrient cycling. It uses natural materials and indigenous microorganisms (IMOs) to improve soil structure, increase nutrient availability, and support plant and animal health.

On our farm, we apply KNF across the market garden, pastures, and has health supplements for our animals to enhance soil microbial life, improve land fertility, and grow healthy crops and livestock.
All our vegetables are grown chemical-free using only KNF inputs, and we even take some ourselves to support health and immunity. We continually observe and adapt our methods to suit the land, climate, and farm systems, always working with natural processes rather than relying on synthetic solutions.

Training, Education & the
Bigger Picture
Michelle trained in KNF with Tom Stack and the team at Natural Farming Ireland, gaining hands-on experience in preparing and applying KNF inputs. These practices are fully integrated into how we farm, alongside our scientific understanding of soil biology.

Education is central to what we do. We’ve previously run an Introduction to Korean Natural Farming event, giving participants a practical overview of KNF principles and how they can be applied on real farms. For us, KNF is part of a wider regenerative approach — working with soil biology, biodiversity, and natural systems to produce healthier soils, stronger crops, resilient animals, and nutrient-dense food you can trust.
